Software Used: Blender
OKAY. Learning new programs has always been exciting. But when it comes to 3D design. It just takes the cake.
I'd played with blender a bunch but swore to never work with it professionally.

Turns out, it was actually easier to create this in Blender than create a fake version of it on any of my other go-to programs. Which believe me, I tried at first. Let's just get to the details.
Brief:
He sent me an image of an abstract structure he came across at a gig, saying he basically wants something like that in purely a white room; title above and a shadow of the object on the ground. Simple enough right?

So I sketch out the object on Photoshop and try creating it in the 3D section of photoshop. No real luck.
I switch over to blender, play around there for a couple of minutes (read: days), and eventually came up with not at all anything. Instead, I focused on figuring out how to get the texture of the object and all those other not so important things... (read, very important). If you're curious about all of those adventures, step right on over here.
Very long story short, I eventually managed to create the shape as you can see:
The rest of it was actually fairly simple. I can't believe I'm saying that. But seriously. Not too bad. We added text and tweaked sizes and stuff until it was just right, thus creating:
