Shai approached me about artwork for her EP 'A Date With A Piano'. Initially she didn't know what she wanted besides depicting a date with a piano and leaning toward something simplistic. So I met with her a couple of times for some brainstorming sessions where I'd show her different art styles and techniques she could consider and that I thought would fit her music. We came up with the following idea.
Brief:
A line art style image of her kneeling on the floor in front of a small table set up for a date. On the other side of the table, facing her, should be a grand piano. Ideally with splashes of color.
First, I sketched out the basics and then created a line art adaptation of the sketch:

Loving the basis we moved on to adding the colors and title which is where we ran into our first issue that the colors were removing our attempt of being simplistic.
Her name didn't seem legible to me and the colors felt too random. So, I suggested perhaps sticking to just the reds.
Additionally, she wanted to see what it would look like if we were to have a rose instead of a yellow flower in the of the table - working with my red scheme.
And this ended up being exactly what she'd been looking for.
The EP hasn't been released yet, I'll be sure to update the album and stream links here and on my socials when they're ready! In the meantime, to hear some of her stuff, follow Shai here!
